Seattle have zero receivers

Bobby Engram (97 receptions last year) is the latest Seahawk to hit the injury trail, following Deion Branch's long-term recovery from his surgically repaired knee. Engram has cracked a bone in his right shoulder, and is out 6-8 weeks, meaning his first game back could be the week 4 match-up with the Giants.

This means the starting spots at the receiving corps, along with Nate Burleson, will be between second-year Courtney Taylor and third-year veteran Ben Obomanu, with undrafted free agent Michael Bumpus from Washington State and former practice squad player Logan Payne fighting to be the 4th receiver until Branch and/or Engram prove their fitness.

Pennington a 'Phin

Following last weeks' signing by the Jets of Brett Favre, Chad Pennington was released - after being linked to the Vikings and Dolphins, Miami (And Bill Parcells, the Head Coach who drafted Pennington) took the plunge meaning week one is the AFC East Divisional match-up between the Jets and the Dolphins.

This says an awful lot about Tony Sparano/Bill Parcells' belief in both John Beck and Josh McCown - if Beck isn't ready after a year of learning the playbook, and McCown hasn't impressed, then it really is out with the old in South Florida.
